Just random bits from a variety of poems in my writing journal... To me they all are powerful in evoking emotion to me, when the words come together. So I don't see sadness as much as I see strength in them. But here, here are the bits I used. :)
"You may shoot me with your words, You may cut me with your eyes, You may kill me with your hatefulness, But still, Like air, I'll rise." -Maya Angelou, Still I Rise
"I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul." -William Ernest Henley, Invictus
"So since I'm still here livin', I guess I will live on. I could've died for love -- But for livin' I was born" -Langston Hughes, Life Is Fine
"Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering..." Poe, The Raven
"We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind" -William Wordsworth, Ode
"I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference." -Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken
"Everything" is a fantastic song! No one should ever live their life without seeing the skit for it as well
ReplyDeleteThe poems seem like they are sad due to some of the words like "grieve" and "died"
ReplyDeleteYou're doing some great work, keep it up!
